Technology Assisted Music Learning class started this week. This week started with a personal introduction to the class and various other start-up projects that support the class. The readings for this week come from William Bauer’s, Music Learning Today and his article Your Personal Learning Network: Professional Development on Demand.
Technology has important place in today’s world and it has a larger role in education. Music education has benefited from the technological advances inside and outside the classroom. From the readings I have refreshed knowledge that anything that helps to progress music can be considered technology. This can be simple as the pencil and as complex as mixing board. Most settings for teaching are introducing smartboards and tablets in their classrooms. This allows the student to have the world of music at their reach at all times.
Technology is more than just the personal computers that we use every day that have influence the music teaching and music.  Web sites allow the listener to create music through online music writing website. This week the class used incredibox to create our own mix that we shared with each other.  The mixes the students  our class shared were well done and it was a good experience for the class. Most of the comments that were made were about how this would be a fun teaching tool to use.  This exercise showed also the technology could be simple and have a wonderful outcome.
Through the reading, Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPAC) was introduced to the class. This focused on how to use knowledge of the common teaching techniques, pedagogical knowledge and technology. This helps the teacher understand how to use all three techniques to aid the students in success.
